COVID 19 UPDATE: Death Cases Rises in Delta State

Today, the Delta State Government announced that it has recorded its sixth #COVID19 death at the Central Hospital, Warri. The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mordi Ononye disclosed this in a statement. Dr. Ononye disclosed that the 78 year-old male patient was referred from a private hospital in Warri to the #COVID19 Treatment Center, Central Hospital Warri by 2am today and was brought in unconscious. Dr. Ononye further disclosed that as strategic partners of the State Government in the containment of the spread of #COVID19 , private healthcare providers are strongly enjoined to have a high index of suspicion with all patients. All suspected cases should be promptly referred to the government treatment or holding facilities for further evaluation in order not to waste time in determining the #COVID19 status of such patients,” Dr. Ononye said. source:@DSGovernment

COVID 19 UPDATE: NIGERIA CONFIRMS 226 NEW CASES WITH ONE DEATH

As at  11:39pm, o n the 19th of May 2020, 226 new confirmed cases and 1 death was recorded in Nigeria No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours. Till date,36899 samples have been tested 6401 cases have been confirmed, 1734 cases have been discharged and 192 deaths have been recorded in 34 states and the Federal Capital Territory The 226 new cases are reported from 16 states-  Lagos (131),  Ogun (25),  Plateau (15),  Edo (11),  Kaduna (7),  Oyo (6),  FCT (5),  Adamawa (5),  Jigawa (4),  Ebonyi (4),  Borno (4),  Nasarawa (3),  Bauchi (2),  Gombe (2),  Enugu (1),  Bayelsa (1) source: @NCDCgov

INSECURITY: AS DELTA STATE INTRODUCES OPERATION DELTA HAWK

The Delta State Government announced on Tuesday that it has commenced moves to establish a security force to check rising insecurity in the state. Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, made this known at a news conference in Asaba, and said that the proposed security outfit would be christened "Operation Delta Hawk". Ebie said that the state government was concerned about the rising insecurity in the state occasioned by herders-farmers clashes, kidnapping and other crimes. The SSG’s announcement stated that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was worried about cases of death and injuries resulting from the clashes and therefore, resolved to set up a security outfit to be controlled by the state in managing the security challenges.
